The Institution

              Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College (Autonomous), Sivakasi, established in 1963, in the industrial town of Sivakasi, popularly known as “Little Japan” is a standing testimony to the wisdom and foresight of late Thiru. P. Ayya Nadar, a leading businessman and pioneering industrialist of this town. As the institution was established by his unificence, the college was fittingly named after him and his equally generous wife, Thirumathi.A.Janaki Ammal. The College is located in a campus sprawling one hundred and fifty seven acres of the Sivakasi-Srivilliputtur road, five kilometers away from Sivakasi. The college has been serving as beacon light in the backward area of Virudhunagar District, emphasizing teaching, learning and research programmes in different disciplines for the benefit of thousands of students who pursue higher education. Today, Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College Autonomous) is reckoned as one of the leading educational institutions in India with diversified courses, excellent infrastructure, competent faculty and very promising students. The College is re-accredited with A+ Grade by NAAC and recognised by UGC as College with Potential for Excellence. The college has completed four decades of service to the society and nation.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

    In this institution, the Department of Microbiology was started in 1997. In our endeavour to epitomize the academic excellence and research caliber, the Department of Microbiology has dedicated itself to conduct Seminar/Symposium/Workshop every year. Apart from the research grants already received from Department of Science and Technology, University Grants Commission, INSA, DBT, New Delhi, UNESCO, Paris and Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Chennai for carrying out our Major, Minor and Student Projects, the Department has also received funds from TIFAC, The division of patent cell Ministry of Science and Technology assisted to organize Workshop on IPR and Patent Awareness in July, 2004. Eminent researchers from various parts of the India are frequently visiting our Department for delivering lectures.

                 Sivakasi is situated approximately 75 km south of Madurai, about 466 Km from Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The town is well connected by rail and road. The nearest airport is Madurai.

Submission of Abstracts:

              The Last date for submission of abstract is  05.01.2009.  Abstract not exceeding 250 words   neatly typed with double spacing in A₄ size paper with sufficient margin in all sides. The abstract should be prepared using Times New Roman (Font Size 12) and submitted as a hard copy and CD. The abstracts can also be sent by e-mail. The name of the author presenting the paper should be in bold italics. The eligibility of the paper for oral / poster will be decided by the organizers.

Submission of Full paper

          The full research paper should be prepared in the Current Science format and submitted as a hard copy

(Times New Roman 12, 1.5 space) along with the compact disc. The organizers have planned to publish proceedings of the Seminar on actual cost basis. The full paper should be submitted at the time of registration.

Deadline Date

The Last date for submission of abstract is on 05.01. 2009 , while filled in Registration Form should reach on
