Vision
“Creation of an organizational culture committed to the continuous improvement of skills, team spirit, teaching and learning methodologies and quality of service so as to achieve academic excellence in the campus”.
Mission
To realize the vision of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell the following is the set of missons:
· Stimulating the academic environment for promotion of quality of teaching-learning and research in the institution
· Encouraging self-evaluation, accountability, autonomy and innovations in the institution.
· Ensuring continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution, and
· Collaborating with the stakeholders for quality evaluation, promotion and sustenance of the institution.
Introduction
When the college was started in 1963, the following committees were formed:
1. College Managing Committee - comprising of members of the Management, two Senior Professors and one University Nominee.
2. College Council - comprising of all Heads of the Departments.
The major aim of these bodies was to impart quality education to the rural folk. Hence these Committees were discussing, finalizing and implementing various quality improvement programmes continuously from the inception of the college.
In course of time, as the strength increased, a separate body “Quality Circles” was constituted in the year 2000, to plan the quality measures to be undertaken in the college.
Functions of IQAC
The functions of the IQAC of the Institution are
· Creating quality culture among all stakeholders of the college.
· Developing and applying quality benchmarks in various activities of the institution.
· Helping the departments and other functionaries to plan their activities and monitor the execution of the plans.
· Suggesting suitable quality measures to be taken during the implementation of the plans.
· Ensuring continuous improvement in the entire operations of the institution.
· Developing consultancy cells in thrust areas - industrial aspects, hospital services, software development and agriculture
· Coordinating the quality related activities among NAAC, UGC, the Management, staff, students, etc.
· Organizing workshops and seminars on quality enhancement.
· Preparing the Annual Quality Assurance Report every year.
· Also, the IQAC evolves mechanisms and procedures for ensuring:
a) Timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks.
b) The relevance and quality of academic and research programmes.
c) Equitable access and affordability of academic programmes for various sections of society.
d) Optimization and integration of modern methods of teaching and learning.
e) The credibility of evaluation procedures.
f) The adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services.
PLAN OF ACTION AND OUTCOMES FOR THE YEAR 2006-2007
1. Innovation in Curricular aspects
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. Introduction of new papers on various subjects with current relevance and importance that would include Spoken English, Project & Viva Voce, and Women studies for UG students, and Nano-Biotechnology as optional paper in P.G curriculum.
2. Preparation of manual for Value Education, Human Rights & Women Studies, for Environmental Studies, and for Entrepreneurship and Personality Development.
3. Revision of manual of Supplementary Courses.
4. Organizing Board of Studies for the subjects that include Environmental studies, Career selection course, Physical Education, Personality Development, and Career Guidance course
5. Organizing “Informex -2006” exhibition for the benefit of III U.G students on course guidance, and Counseling III. U.G students in choosing prospective course.
6. Revision of CBCS guidelines for U.G and P.G courses.
7. Organizing Staff Development Programmes on ‘Educational Objectives’ for newly recruited staff members, and ‘Alternative Teaching Technologies’ for all staff.
Outcome in 2006 - 2007:
A separate paper (English paper – II – Spoken English) with weekly 2 contact hours has been introduced for all the Under Graduate students. In which the learners will be enabled to
i. Learn phonetic sounds and symbols
ii. Be familiar with correct prouniciation of words
iii. Speak fluently in English
iv. Enrich the word power
v. Express thwe ideas in seminars and group discussions.
2. Introduced group project for the third year UG Students for the academics year 2006 -2007.
In the U.G. Curriculum during the sixth semester an extra credit paper Project and Viva voce (4 credits) has been introduced. In order to give more scope for the fast learners to have exposure in advanced research. This paper is not compulsory to all. It is offered to those students who opted for it as an extra credit paper. Hence the slow learners may not be deprived from getting the degree in the stipulated time.
3. “Women” Studies that has been introduced as an Optional Extra Credit paper is now brought into regular curriculum under Part IV for all UG courses.
Women studies have been introduced as an Optional Extra Credit paper, outside the regular college hours during the academic year 2005 – 2006 and 2006 – 2007. Based on our experience during the current revision we have introduced a (2 credit paper) Value Education, Human Rights and Women Studies under Part IV regular curriculum with three contact hours per week.
4. Introduced 14 new Self Employment Courses.
In addition to the 13 Self employment courses already available during the Sixth semester for the U.G. courses, the following 14 new courses have been introduced.

5. Nano Biotechnology is introduced as one of the optional paper in PG curriculum.
Nano-Biotechnology has been introduced as an optional paper by the department of Biotechnology. All the P.G. students can opt for this paper some project work will also be given for the willing students.
6. A new manual for Value Education, Human Rights & Women Studies has been prepared.
A Hand book containing the three components Education, Human Rights & Women Studies has been written by our faculty members. The printed books will be supplied to all U.G. students, which will help them to prepare for the Mandatory paper.
7. Manual for Environmental Studies were prepared.
A Text book as per the prescribed syllabus on Environmental Studies has been written by our faculty member Prof. A. Thangamani and it is printed and supplied to all U.G. students.
8. Manual for Personality Development and Entrepreneurship were prepared.
A revised book on Personality Development and Entrepreneurship has been written by Prof. P. Mohan Suyamburaj and it is printed and supplied to all U.G. students.
9. Manual of Supplementary Courses revised and prepared.
The syllabi for the supplementary courses has been revised and as per the revised by the senior course teachers. It is printed and it will be supplied to all U.G. students.

14. Workshop on meditation and communal harmony was organized on 21.02.07 and 22.02.07 for I UG students.

2. Examinations reforms
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
i) Educational Objectives:
We expect at least 90% of the total Question papers to be in the prescribed standard (i.e. knowledge type question should not exceed 50% of the total marks).
ii) Experience of the Examiners:
Average experience of the examiner should be above 15 years.
iii) Out of Syllabus:
Out of Syllabus question is to be completely eliminated.
iv) Publishing of Results:
Results for all courses are to be published within 20 days from the last date of examination.
v) Settlement of Claims for External examiners:
100% payment of remuneration is to be paid within 15 days from the receipt of claims.
Outcome in 2006-2007:
i) Educational Objectives:
Majority of the question papers are in the prescribed standard.
ii) Experience of the Examiners:
The average experience of the examiners is 17 years.
iii) Out of Syllabus:
There was no significant reporting of questions out of syllabus.
iv) Results Publishing:
Most of the results were published within 20 days. Due to lack of expected response from the external examiners and question paper setters the result of the remaining few papers were delayed by one week.
v) Settlement of Claims for External examiners:
All claims received were settled within 10 days.
3. Encouragement of Research Activities

1. Adequate steps will be taken up to promote the research interest among staff and students, by circulating the announcements from the various funding agencies for submission of research proposals.

4. Staff involved in research activities can also avail requisition for reprint from India and abroad.
5. Publishing ANJAC Journal of Sciences – a Multidisciplinary biannual science journal.
Outcome in 2006-2007:
1. 28 students’ research projects have been submitted to TNSCST, Chennai. Among them 1 project has been sanctioned for financial assistance.
2. 40 Staff members possessing doctoral degree are benefited this year (2004 – 2005) each by receiving Rs.200/- per month.
3. For the efforts of staff members in publication of research articles in reputed journals and other research activities they were honoured during College day & Founders day with cash insentive of Rs. 46,950/-.
4. The ninth and tenth issues of the ANJAC Journal of Sciences ( ISSN:0972-6012) (Vol. 5 No.1 ; Vol.5: No.2) have been released.

Achievements of Students
1. Eight students participated and won first prize in seventh national youth parliament competition organized by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in 2004-2005 at Newdelhi.
2. Miss.G.Ratna won the second prize in All India Essay contest on nuclear science & technology on 30th October 2006 conducted by BAARC, Mumbai.
3. T.Ganesh kumar won the II prize in the national level youth festival competition held at University of Madras during 21.01.2007-25.01.2007.

Hostel for Women
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. After setting Intranet, we plan to give computer facilities to the inmates.
2. Plan to purchase steel cots for the remaining inmates.
3. Flying insects control system namely “Pest O flash lamp” to be installed in mess hall.
4. Proposed to computerize all the hostel accounts with Intranet facility
Outcome in 2006-2007:
1. Intranet has been provided for the time being two computers are installed in the girls hostel for the use of the inmates. The facility will be enhanced in due course.
2. As the strength of Inmates enhanced to 400, additional 50 Steel Cots were purchased to the tune of Rs. 93,400 /-.
3. Pest O flash lamp has been installed in the mess hall
4. As the intranet faclitity is established in the campus the hostel accounts are also processed through intranet and the students are allowed to access the details of their accounts through intranet.
5. An additional INPCO Facility was annexed so as to enable the Inmates to contact their parents on actual tariff without any additional added charges..
6. An additional cost free bus trips (Weekly 3 trips) were made for the personal outings of Inmates.
7. The Dining Hall was furnished with additional seating for about 150 more candidates and additional fittings like Fans and Lights were also made.
8. Separate provisions were also made for washing the clothes and drying the cleaned vessels. Besides additional Drying Yards were also laid within the built up area where the Sun Light penetrates.
9. Replaced the Compressor of the Water Doctor which Provides Hygienic Drinking Water after Ultra Filtration, Ozonization and UV Treatment at Rs. 6,500 /-
10. With the view of non stop supply of water, the permanent solutions were taken by interlinking the pipe lines which comes from the main water resource of ANJAC, i.e., the well surrounded by the recently renovated percolation ponds in the South West Corner of the Campus.
11. Dish was fixed to get an access to about 75 Channels, in this way Rs. 3,929 /- was spent.
12. Reverse Osmosis System of Water Treatment Plant with 100 L per hr capacity (Rs. 52,546/-) was installed immediately when there was drastic / unusual change in the Climate.
13. 6 Solar Lamps were installed as a means of constant light source even at the time of power failure.
14. 3 Gas Lights were purchased for Rs. 1,050 /- for emergency purpose.
Vairam and Bose hall (Hostel for Men)
Action Plan for 2006-2007:

6. An aqua guard plant has also been installed for drinking water purpose.
Graham Hall (Hostel for Men)
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. After setting Intranet, we plan to give computer facilities to the inmates.

2. We enhanced the facilities of our inmates by providing 110 steel cots at the cost of Rs.205700/-
3. An additional Dish Antenna was installed (Rs.3929) to view 75 channels.
4. The Reverse osmosis plant was erected to the cost of Rs.30565 for pure and safe drinking water to the inmates with frequent servicing.
5. Aqua guard system was repaired at the expense of Rs.2000 to replace circuit board to continue its hygienic drinking water supply.
6. An INPCO facility was arranged for the inmates to contact their parents on actual tariff.
7. One Rupee coin phone system was introduced to enhance the communication facility for the inmates.
6. Sports Activities
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. Proposed to conduct seminar/ coaching camps to train the students in various sports and games.
2. Proposed to construct a multipurpose indoor stadium with Financial Assistance from Funding Agencies.
Outcome in 2006-2007:
1. Coaching camps with the help of faculty from department of P.H.S and recognized coaches were organized for our college teams in different games from 1.08.06 to 30.08.06.
2. The multipurpose indoor stadium with facilities to play Volley ball, Ball Batmiton,Tenni Koit, has been constructed from the management funds and grant from Funding Agencies is not yet received.
Tournaments Organised:
Department of Physical Education has organized the following tournaments during year 2006-2007.
i. Madurai Kamaraj University ‘A’ zone handball tournament at our college on 27th and 28th July 2006.
ii. Madurai Kamaraj University ‘A’ zone football tournament at our college from 28th to 30th September 2006.
iii. Tamilnadu state inter district cricket tournament from 14th to 17th July 2006.
iv. Cross country race on 12.01.07, totally 1160 students participated on the race and completed the race successfully.
Achievements:
1. Our college handball team has won the m.k.university ‘A’ zone tournament held at A.N.J.A.College, sivakasi. On 27th and 28th July 2006.
2. Our college kabaddi team has won the M.K. university champion trophy held at M.K.U. gym on august 21st & 22nd 2006.
3. Our college handball team has won the runner up in the M.K.U. tournament held at M.K.university on 1st & 2nd august 2006.
4. Our college kabbadi team has won the M.K.U ‘A’ zone tournament held at S.R.N.M College, sattur on 16th & 17th August 2006.
5. Our college swimming team won the overall II place in the M.K.university swimming meet held at corporation pool, Madurai on 23.10.06.
6. Our college tennis team has won the M.K.university champion trophy held at Madura College on 19th &20th October 2006.
7. Our college tennis team has won the M.K.university ‘A’ zone tournament held at Yadava College on 16th & 17th October 2006.
8. Our college volleyball team has won state level intercollegiate tournament held at tirunelveli on 22.02.07.

7. Placement Facilities
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. To visit Chennai IT companies & to welcome them to conduct Interviews at our campus.
2. To arrange many off-campus interviews for both passed out & current, batch students.
3. To intimate Personality Development, Spoken English & Aptitude skills training programme for interested final year U.G & P.G students.
4. To conduct mock interviews for the enrolled (interested) final year U.G& P.G students.
5. To arrange Guest Lectures/Interaction Sessions by calling eminent personalities/Alumni for motivating the students for successful placement.
Outcome in 2006-2007:
1. Several companies visited the college for campus interview and off campus interviews were also conducted.
2. Model interview and personality development classes were held for final year UG and PG students. It boosted the morale and self confidence of students.
3. Guest lectures by resource persons of various institutions and companies were arranged.
4. Students attended Job Fairs organized at various Educational Institutions and Universities.
8. Extension Services
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. During the last week of June, The students will be selected for the ANJACES and EXNORA – ANJACES Student’s Wing.
2. During July 1st week, the inauguration of ANJACES and EXNORA – ANJACES Student’s Wing will be carried out.
3. In July 2nd, 3rd and 4th week and august 1st week the campus cleaning and preparative work for free plantation will be made.
4. On August 15th, Independence Day will be celebrated in the nearby adopted village. Essay, Elocution and Sports Competitions will be conducted for the school students. Cultural programmes will be exhibited by our college students. Tree Plantation will be carried out. In Connection with Mr. Rajiv Gandhi birthday non–renewable energy source rally and meeting will be conducted.
5. During August 3rd & 4th, September 1st and 2nd week campus cleaning activities will be carried out.
6. During September 3rd and 4th week Ozone Day will be celebrated and competitions will be conducted.
7. In the month of September centenary celebration of Vandemadaram, the song will be sung.
8. During October 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th week campus cleaning activities will be carried out. Preparative work for tree plantation and the massive tree plantation will be made.
9. During December 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th week campus cleaning activities will be carried out. One Day special camp will be conducted.
10. During January 1st and 2nd week the campus cleaning activities and routine activities will be made.
11. In January 26th, Republic Day will be celebrated, in the near by adopted village. Competitions (Essay, Elocution, and Sports) will be conducted for school children. For Public Rural sports will be conducted and prizes will be given. Cultural programmes by the college students will be made. Meeting and rally will be conducted.

1. Setting up of Intranet inside the campus covering all functional blocks to automate all activities of our Institute.
2. Setting up systems in all Departments, Office, Hostels and Offices of the functionaries of autonomy & stores.
3. Procuring more LCD projectors for better presentations by all departments.
Outcome in 2006-2007:
1. Completion of providing network backbone and installation of campus automation software for Intranet access at an outlay of Rs.8,04,845.
2. Purchase of servers and systems for Intranet Access at a cost of Rs.1,59,000.
3. Dot matrix Printers (2) & finger print scanner (1) and additional two LCD projectors have been added to the existing hard ware system.
10. Improvement of Library Facilities
Action Plan for 2006-2007:
1. To digitalize the important reading materials and the content pages of the journal
2. Procurement of books for the latest subject Nanotechnology and Genomics and Proteomics.
3. Construction of the second floor of the library to add up-to-date facilities.
4. Procurement of conversion software Abbyy Fine Reader.
5. Purchase of two numbers of HP Scanner –Printer.
6. Conducting competitions.
7. Purchase of online JOURNALS.
Outcome in 2006-2007:
1. Nine numbers of important reading materials have been digitalized and the work is in progress.
2. Latest book on nanotechnology, genomics and proteomics have been procured and kept in the library for the readers
3. Archetect plan has been prepared for the proposed second floor of the Libarary and it is under active consideration to start out the construction project.
4. Abby fine reader conversion software has been procured and installed in the library
5. Two numbers HP scanner –printers have been procured and are used for scanning work
6. Competition like verse writing, essay writing, elocution contest, and Quiz competition were conducted in the library to promote the reading habit among the students .Prizes and Certificates were issued to the winners in the competitions
7. ON LINE journals are down loaded for the use of research scholars, students and faculties.

3. Deputing students to various competitions such as ROTNIVAL (Rotary Club, Sivakasi), LEGACY, Jaycees CARNIVAL, M.K. university youth festival, and to other district level &state level competitions conducted by other colleges
