CURRICULUM FEATURES

• Introduction of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) at the UG level provides scope for the students to opt for a paper of their choice.

• Introduction of Foundation Courses for the learners of Under Graduate Courses   of both Sciences and Humanities with a view of leveling up the heterogeneity in their  entry behaviour.

• Offering a Supplementary Course, i.e., Science for learners of Humanities and vice versa to make the education broad based, so that the learners could achieve a horizontal academic growth through diversification.

• Offering a course on “Career Education” comprising of components like General Knowledge, Test of Reasoning, Entrepreneurship and Psychology so as to enhance the employability of the learners.

• Extending computer literacy ( both theory  and  practical ) by the  introduction of a paper on Computer Applications for all U.G. courses.

• Teaching Hindi as a mandatory language paper for B.Com., and B.B.A., courses and leaving it as an optional one for the learners of other courses.  There is considerable flexibility in the Language Curriculum as well.

• Introduction of Community Extension Service Programme called ANJACES as one of the co-curricular activities.

• Inclusion of “Institutional Training / On The Job-training” in the Computer Science and Commerce Curriculum (Vocational Stream) as well as in the Business Administration curriculum which is being designed to carry  out  during summer vacation. 

• Introduction of compulsory Certificate Course on IT for all the U.G. students.

• Introduction of a Vocational Course – B.Sc., Computer Science (Vocational : Computer Maintenance) according to the U.G.C. scheme for the vocationalization of under – graduate curriculum and also vocationalizing the B.Com., course by introducing the vocational subject Computer Applications.

• Introduction of a new programme, Prospective Course  which extends  the much needed flexibility in the curriculum.  It aims at grouping learners into three streams on the basis of their vocational choice, viz.,
  • Self – employment course
  • Career selection course and
  • Course on higher studies

SALIENT FEATURES OF P.G. CURRICULUM

          A remarkable academic achievement has been made by introducing the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for all Post  Graduate courses.  Ours is the first college to introduce CBCS in the Madurai Kamaraj University area.  The salient features of the Post  Graduate curriculum are

§         Introduction of greater flexibility in the curriculum by giving complete freedom to the learners to construct their own curriculum.

§         Offering wider choices in soft core and optional credit papers covering inter – disciplinary, multi – disciplinary and application oriented areas.

§         Computation of marks on the basis of weighted arithmetic mean.

§         Making Research Methodology and Project Work as an integral part of the Post  Graduate curriculum in order to foster research culture among youth.

§         Inclusion of “Institutional Training /On the Job  Training / Field Study” to be undertaken during summer vacation with a view to enhance the technical skills and to create a rapport between College and Industries.

§         Addition of an extra credit paper “Comprehension and Viva voce” in the schedule of examinations in each semester so as to enhance comprehensive power, communication skills of the learner which would enable them to prepare themselves intellectually and mentally  for the Competitive Examination to face the U.G.C. / C.S.I.R. fellowship examinations  and the  Interview Boards with confidence
